I also thought the illustrations were extremely sweet and did a great job of telling the story of Frog and Toad's friendship. This color scheme adds to the theme of the overall story, as it is about a green frog and a brown toad. The illustrator was able to create very appealing illustrations only using the colors brown and green. One thing I really liked about this book were the illustrations. I would read the stories individually to primary students and as a chapter book for intermediate. This is a good fantasy chapter book because the story is split up into chapters and Frog and Toad are personified and live in houses and wear clothes. Each chapter is a different story with the first chapter being about toad not wanting to awaken from hibernation and frog tricking him, the second is about Toad trying to think of a story to tell Frog, the third is about Toad losing a button on his jacket and Frog helping him find it but eventually finding out he had the button the whole time so he sows Frog a jacket with many buttons, the fourth chapter is about toad wearing a bathing suit when they go swimming and not wanting anyone to see it but everyone waits around the water till he gets out, and the final chapter is about Toad never getting mail so Frog writes him a letter to make his friend happy. Frog and Toad is a chapter book in which two best friends named, frog and toad, go on adventures together. ![]() ![]() ![]() I like the relationship of father and son, which reminds me of my relationship with Dad, the hopes a father has for his son, and the subtle complexities of the Duke Leto-Paul Atreides interactions.
